BBLTranslation Supports Theatre and Kids

BBLTranslation again partners with TTC to open up English-language theatre to Catalan and Spanish speakers in Barcelona. BBLTranslation provides Eng/Cat and Eng/Cas translations of the vocabulary in TTC’s latest show: “Thelma and Louise – and Karen”. The trilingual vocabulary list makes the play accessible to a wider audience while also allowing audience members to learn more English – and especially more colloquial phrases. The list provides the words and phrases used in the play alongside definitions that aid understanding next to Catalan and Spanish translations. BBLTranslation ensures that viewers can immerse themselves in the story without any language barriers to enjoy a great evening of entertainment – AND for a good cause.
Proceeds from “Thelma and Louise – and Karen” go to [i] support Spanish children (Celeste and Anael) who have been denied financial support from the government since their mother died, and [ii] TTC’s flights to perform the play in London in August.
What’s the PLAY ABOUT?  THELMA (believed dead) and LOUISE (believed to be in China) meet by chance after twenty-five years apart. They rekindle their friendship but their versions of the past don’t match (e.g. the thing with the ukulele, and the car crash, and the… well…). Their delight at meeting again soon turns to annoyance and disgust but, as they shun each other, a voice offstage joins in the conversation and convinces them to stick around to show them how their lives can be better than ever before.  “Thelma and Louise – and Karen” is a new play (a black comedy) that tests the limits of friendship – and what happens next.  It blends onstage acting with offstage voicework that is reminiscent of a mildly helpful Greek chorus.

Thelma and Louise – and Karen (2016) is new play by Georgina Tremayne. In 2015 she won the New Writing Award at the Leatherhead Drama Festival for Marie’s Crisis Café, and she won selection and performance at the 24:7 Big Theatre Festival in Manchester for her play Madness Sweet Madness. Madness Sweet Madness then transferred to Liverpool’s Shiny New Theatre Festival, also in 2015. BBLTranslation provided translation lists for all of these shows too.
